Abstract
This article deals with the relations between US and the Islamic Republic of Iran, their mutual hostility and the possibility to start a 'selective engagement' for the reduction of the tension in the region. It explores the different attitudes towards engagements and the obstacles for a real dialogue between Tehran and Washington
