Abstract
The Seminary of the Near East and the Mediterranean was established in 2018 in the Brescia Campus of the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart. It is dedicated to the memory of Luigi Cagni, an orientalist of Brescian origins and of international fame as an Assyriologist, who linked his name to the famous Neapolitan conferences with which studies on the Ebla language (Syria) began, attested by the finds found by the Mission Italian Archaeological (1975). The purpose of the seminar is to preserve the collections of the "Felice Montagnini" Library of historical-philological studies on the Bible, and of the "Francesco Vattioni" Archive of bibliographic and documentary sources, and to coordinate their research and study activities on the Bible in the context of literature of the ancient Near East.
