Abstract
The onset of a serious illness is a factor that upsets the universe of personal and relational networks. The paper analyzes the changes affecting the family in the presence of the illness of a member. It focuses in particular on amending the rules that govern the relationships and the quality of emotional relationships that characterize the family. It takes into account, in this sense, the help that volunteering can offer to the families who live the experience of serious illness, deepening the educational significance of the treatment.
