Abstract
The motivation for this paper is to put life-cycle economic decisions in a frame work which takes up more deeply the role of overlapping generations and the fact of a finite life. We produce new empirical evidences about the impact of ageing Italian Society on pensions and public expenditures. We show the rising of critical imbalance for the households rate of saving, sharply declining in the last 15 years. We explore the economic implication of the fertility decline.
