Abstract
In his work Valerius Maximus point out his point of view on his times: the relationship between wealth and politics to which he seems particularly mindful; the debate on luxus in the age of Tiberius; the concept of consuetudo novanda and the function of memory with respect to the ancient exempla during the principate.
