Abstract

With a view to question Peng’s (2001) prediction of the increasing importance of the Resource-Based View (RBV) within the International Entrepreneurship (IE) literature, we review 18 empirical papers that apply the RBV framework in the field of IE during the period from 2001 to the first semester of 2009. Methodologically, we conduct a literature search to understand how international business, entrepreneurship and strategy journals have embraced the RBV to advance IE research. We analyze the chosen articles with particular emphasis on the following issues: (1) main research objectives; (2) application and conceptualization of the RBV; and the (3) key findings and conclusions. This chapter concludes by discussing the limitations and implications of our literature search offering possible and new avenues for future research.
