Urbanistica, arti, architettura: nuovi dialoghi e possibilità. Il caso QT8 di Milano

The aim of this paper is to give a short presentation of the topic of my PhD research. Through the analysis of the specific situation – the project and realization of QT8 district in Milan, conceived during the VIII Triennale in 1947 – the study wants to reconstruct its development, focusing in particular on its technical and ideological innovative aspects: a new conception of habitability, the reconsideration of the citizen as a human being with practical but also spiritual and aesthetic needs, and especially the purpose of a new dialogue between architecture and visual arts, in the name of the “Synthesis of Arts” ideal. The research wants to highlight how this relationship takes place in QT8, also with on-site reconnaissance, which may also be useful in the future to plan the conservation and redevelopment of the site.
