Abstract
A particular feature of the composition of the Southern Italian chant (generally labelled as "Beneventan Chant") is identical to a well know feature of the composition of the Northern European Chant (or "Gregorian Chant"). Both repertoires show a distinctive, even if puzzling, interest in a clear and correct pronunciation of Latin.
