Abstract
This essay gives a concise overview of the recent and innovative scholarly literature on public education reforms carried out by Napoleon in his Kingdom of Italy. It also presents and discusses what had been achieved in this field in Milan, capital of the Kingdom, showing schools and educational institutions established until 1814, when Napoleon’s regime collapsed in Italy.
