TRASFORMAZIONI DEMOGRAFICHE E NUOVE FASI DELLA VITA Un’analisi della condizione attiva dopo i 65 anni

The increase in longevity recorded in the last decades in the developed countries\r\nrepresents one of the most important changes ever recorded from a demographical\r\nand social point of view. The continuous gain in life expectancy opens up new\r\nscenarios with marked impact on individual lives and on societies. Simultaneously,\r\nthe decrease in fertility continues to raise the old age index (relation between\r\nold and young generations), which has risen steeply in Italy in the last decades.\r\nHowever, if on the one hand the demographical indicators unequivocally highlight\r\nthese changes, on the other it is more and more clear that some of the parameters\r\nused to measure such changes are becoming outdated. In particular, in this\r\nresearch, we analyze the characteristics of those who are usually included among\r\nthe old generations, the so called “seniors” (65-74 years old), with the aim of highlighting\r\nboth the level of their activity and the interrelation with the social network\r\nand mutual help.
