Abstract
The relationship between investment in infrastructure and growth is one of the main “mantra” of economics of development. There are various reasons that sustain this linkage. Infrastructure pushes productivity and attract business. On the other side, infrastructure investment needs large financial capital but most of them are “cold infrastructure” and then must be financed by public spending. This paper provide preliminary evaluation on the territorial impact of the Strait of Messina Bridge and alternatives, after decades of debate and postponment of political decisions on a relevant infrastructure that might impact positively on two regions.
