Abstract
This paper presents three initiatives in which scholarly editions of ancient texts are being developed and published online. The texts in question include the tragedies of Sophocles, the satires of Juvenal, and a corpus of Greek funerary inscriptions. The authors aim to give their audience access to the full expertise of a professional editor while offering a level of clarity and interconnectedness that is impossible to achieve in printed books. To this end, the proposed digital editions include a full syntactic commentary on every lemma of the text as well as multiple variant readings and direct links to fulltext comparanda, commentaries, and relevant bibliography.
