Abstract

The aim of these pages is to offer some reflections on the centrality that the teaching of historyshould once again have today, in order to educate young people to live the challenges posed to them by thecomplexity of their times, and to help them to think historically, that is, to apply the rules of the historicalmethod to the analysis of the present. In this context, the new historiographical paths that the globalizedworld has brought to the attention of historians and the teaching methods that are necessary to teach themin schools will be considered. In particular, it will be pointed out that Italy is lagging behind in its reflectionon the teaching of history.
