Abstract

This article illustrates society's "concern for privacy and its interest in publicity". This is most predominantly proven through the use of the social networking site Facebook. There are two aspects to photographs that are covered in the article. One deals with the issue of privacy and the ways that companies, governments and institutions can collect information about users and distribute it without their knowledge. The other aspect deals with the ideas of self-promotion related to the photograph and Facebook posts. It reflects the idea of communicating oneself in a world of billions of media, images and opinions.
