Abstract
The essay examines the proposal for a European Foundation Statute presented by the European Commission in February 2012, which has been welcomed by many scholars and institutions as “a major step towards having a new legal tool that will make it easier for foundations to support public-benefit causes across the EU". The Author examines the possible effects of the Regulation (if entered into force) on the national laws with particular reference to Italian legislation.
