Abstract
Within the fast-changing competitive environment, digital revolution is one of the most impactful trends affecting economy, business, and society. In such context, organizations are facing significant change in their activities in order to adapt their business models to the ongoing transformation. However, the impact of digital technologies on organizations' activities may spawn organizational resistance. In this scenario, the consequences of digital revolution on institutions such as museums and cultural organizations, given the peculiar nature of their activity, would be further distressing. The purpose of this chapter is to review the determinants of organizational change and the organizational catalysts to foster such change and, ultimately, develop proposals for a smooth transition toward digitalization in museums.
