Abstract
The communicative potential of the exposed writings is amplified or made more explicit by their location: in the cathedral complex of Milan, the choice of placing internally inscribed burials and funerary epigraphs in the path that connects the baptistery to the cathedral of S. Tecla seems motivated by the liturgical functionality of that connection; in the private oratory of SS. Primo and Feliciano in Leggiuno (VA) the exposition of a Roman inscription supports the value of Carolingian epigraphs that resume their calligraphic quality.
