Abstract
Several MSS travelled from Iberian Peninsula to Northern Italy during the 8th and 9th centuries. Vercelli, Bibl. Cap. MS CLVIII is an outstanding example, with marginal notes written both in visigothic and 8th-century Italian cursive script. Texts of Isidore were copied and studied in the Lombard Kingdom in Pavia and Bobbio. Influential scholars of Spanish origin and active in Italy were Theodulf of Orléans, who used late antique MSS made in Italy for his edition of the Bible, and Claudius bishop of Turin, who wrote a Chronica, where he lists Latin speaking nations of contemporary Europe.
