Abstract
The chapter investigates which values were preferred by right-wing and left-wing voters after 2006 Italian general elections. In a post-electoral survey on a representative sample of 2011 people (ITANES research programme), right-wing and left-wing voters were asked to rate the importance of the ten value types included in Schwartz's model. Results showed that, in the investigated context, the most important value was safety. Furthermore, while left-wing voters put more emphasis on universalism and benevolence values, right-wing voters gave more importance to success and power values.
