Abstract
The paper investigates the numerous initiatives carried out in Brescia to start the reconstruction in the postwar period. The attention focusses on the very first response to the most pressing needs, as well as on the choices made in a long-term perspective. Great attention is dedicated to the role played by the Allied Military Government and Congrega della Carità Apostolica.
