Abstract

The essay analyzes the impact of the use of social networks on industrial relations with specific (and contradictory) reference to the theoretical strengthening of trade union activity and, on the oder side, to the effects of progressive disintermediation that such technologies cause in the world of Trade Union Representation. In this context of strong instability, also due to the emergence of opinion groups that present themselfes as an alternative to the trade union (destined to become a syndicate?), and the consequent unpredictability of the formation process of the collective will, the Author stresses the need to punctually define the limits encountered by the employer in the use of direct communication tools with his employees, reaching the conclusion that flows of direct information between Employer/Employees in Trade Unions’ matters can not - by themselves considered, regardless of the communication tools used - be considered to be detrimental to the freedom and trade union activity and, on the contrary, they legitimately contribute to the formation of the collective will.
