N2 - The book “Social entrepreneurship and innovation: toward an inclusive socio-economic development of Africa” sheds light on the role of social entrepreneurship in tackling poverty through promoting innovation. It focuses on Africa which is a fast-growing economic continent yet characterized by social inequalities and disparities, calling for further investigations of how to design an inclusive socio-economic development. Recent academic works on entrepreneurship in Africa have contributed to advancing our understanding of challenges, strategies, and approaches to tackle social exclusion through the means of business. However, Africa is still underrepresented in research compared to other geographical contexts despite it is considered a promising land of phenomena that can reshape Western-based entrepreneurship theories. In specific, few studies have investigated how social innovations are promoted by enterprises in marginalized contexts and their impacts on the institutional environment. The book sheds light on models and strategies to shape inefficient institutional environments to achieve socio-economic inclusive development
