Abstract

BACKGROUND: The aim of the present study was to investigate a linkage between nocturnal enuresis (NE), sleep disorders and GHrelease during childhood. METHODS: Were recruited 150 patients aged between 5 and 14 years (102 male and 48 female) (G1) affected by primary monosymptomatic-NEand a control group of 150 children aged between 5 and 14 years (80 male and 70 female) (G2). We administered the Epworth Sleepiness Scale-Child Adolescent (ESS-Chad) to measure the level of daytime sleepiness or average sleep propensity and we collected anthropometric data. RESULTS: In G1 the average percentiles about weight and height are respectively 66.5 (SD25.4) and 69.3 (SD24.4) and in G2 are 68.7 (SD26.3) and 68.1 (SD27.5). The unpaired t-test pointed out that there are no significant differences between G1 and G2. CONCLUSIONS: Our ipothesis needs to be examined in depth in future works.
