Abstract
Ruling no. 5/2021 of the Italian Constitutional Court provides an opportunity\r\nto reflect on the width of the autonomy accorded to Italian Regions\r\nin establishing sanctioning systems for the enforcement of their own\r\nlaws; that, with regard not only to the relationship with criminal law –\r\nwhich falls within the State’s exclusive powers – but also to other issues\r\nraised by a regional law, which provides offenders with a wide power to\r\ncomply after the commission of the offence has been ascertained.
