Abstract
The aim of the present study was to analyse the factorial structure of the short-form (13 items) of Antonovskys Sense of Coherence Scale (SOCS) (1987). The SOCS measures the individual level of sense of coherence, defined as a steady way of perceiving and interpreting life events. The sample consisted of 717 Italian adult subjects. The factorial structure was examined using confirmatory fac- tor analysis which showed a good overall fit for a model with two correlated factors, tested on 11 items. Multigroup analyses were carried out to verify the invariance of this factorial structure across age and gender.
