Abstract
The essay presents a general overview of second generations in Europe, presented as a critical issue for both economic competitiveness and social cohesion. After describing the European policies for family migration, it focuses the attention on some specific topics: the rethinking of integration models, the discrimination, the role of the educational system as an instrument of emancipation or of reproduction of social inequalities, the citizenship.
