Abstract
For nearly a decade, in Italy sociologists have directed constant attention to changes in the educational system, resulting from an increase in number of pupils with Non-Italian citizenship. The article aims to compare the most important sociological sur-veys carried out in Italy: it offers a synthetic and systematic frame of reference built on the experiences of those involved in the field of education (foreign parents, stu-dents, teachers), in order to point out some focuses of attention and proposals for the future. The article intends to disseminate and promote the Italian research on this is-sue, fostering the comparison with international analysis, not only in terms of adher-ence to theoretical and interpretative approaches, but also for the validation of the investigation results, highlighting both their limits and their scientific relevance.
