Abstract
In Israel and Revelation (Order and History I) Eric Voegelin offers an original contribution to grasp Israel’s novelty under a spiritual, cultural and intellectual perspective. The first part of the present essay examines the arguments he gives purporting the inclusion of the main cultures of Ancient Near East under the general type of “mythical-cosmological order” and how is it to understand the breaking of this order by Israel. The essay develops also a short analysis of the theoretical perspective adopted by Voegelin in Order and History in order to justify his analysis of historical data.
