Abstract
The Magnificat per soli cori e orchestra, written by Lucio Campiani for the Accademia Filarmonica di Bologna in 1846, bears the note «Riveduto dal M. Gioachino Rossini». The essay, by analyzing this piece, tries to gather some new information on the relationship between the two artists, which stayed in touch even after Campiani completed his studies and left Bologna in 1845. Additionally, this paper contextualizes this piece in the life of the Accademia and of the Liceo Musicale in the year of Pope Pius IX’s election, a crucial event for the whole town
