Abstract
As regards the influence of drama on Longus, critics have generally focused on its several and obvious resemblances with New Comedy (cf. especially Crismani 1997, with further bibliographical references, and lastly Morgan 2004). This paper deals with some exemplary cases of tragic appropriation and analyses how tragic ‘presences’ are embedded in the main narrative plot.
