N2 - [Autom. eng. transl.] As underlined by the most recent historiography, the construction of Napoleon's political consensus found a particular declination, in the years of the Empire (1804-1815), in the numerous interventions that the French government promoted on the level of religious policy; an objective closely linked to the intentions that were intended to surround the figure and power of Bonaparte with a sacralizing aura and which did not fail to find evident expression, after its foundation in 1805, also in the Napoleonic Kingdom of Italy, of which Milan it was capital.
In reconstructing the process that led to the introduction of the prayers to be recited in favor of the sovereign of the French and to give the religious component a leading role in the public celebrations that were organized within the satellite state to celebrate the birthday and name day of the emperor, the present intervention aims to emphasize the direct involvement of the episcopate and the clergy for the purposes of the correct observance of the new initiatives and at the same time to highlight the difficulties that the government authorities had to face in order to establish the accession for the regime by making use of the new measures.
