Abstract

In recent years reflexivity has been increasingly recognized as an intercultural strategy in order to learn to make meaningful connections between different experiences and different interpretative paradigms, without relying exclusively on preconceived ideas and unreflected and ethnocentric representations. From an intercultural perspective, the areas that have enhanced reflexivity are the following: 1) the literature dealing with second- language acquisition; 2) reflexivity in teacher training; 3) reflective tools focusing on intercultural competence development: awareness, approach to diversity, “putting themselves in other people’s shoes” ; 4) democratic participation and citizenship education
