Rate of correlation among the bronchial provocation test to ultrasonic mist, histamine and carbachol: observations regard to their different modes of action

The degree of correlation between the provocative doses of different stimuli reflects the different mechanisms of action. We found the closest correlations between the provocative doses of the pharmacological stimuli carbachol and histamine. The physical stimulus afforded by the ultrasonic mist of distilled water results in significantly airway narrowing in a smaller percentage of asthmatics
