Abstract
Through the detailed examination of some 12th century trial papers, preserved in the Capitular archive of Reggio Emilia, the essay illustrates a family patrimonial affair relating to the Lombard high aristocracy. In particular, feudal relations, parental ties, bonds of fidelity, dynamics of lineages and political-religious interferences are investigated in a geographical area that stretches between East and West.
