Abstract

The document discusses the collaboration between Gilles Deleuze and Félix Guattari, focusing on their final work, What is Philosophy? (1991). This work redefines philosophy as the "creation of concepts" and incorporates reflections on music, particularly highlighting the works of Marcel Proust, Debussy, and Jankélévitch. It explores the connection between music, philosophy, and the cosmos, emphasizing music's ability to express life, freedom, and love while transcending language. Guattari's relationship with Deleuze is pivotal, blending various fields—politics, psychoanalysis, and capitalism—into a vision of life as a constant revolution. A central idea in their work is the concept of the "ritornello," a recurring theme that serves as a metaphor for life’s dynamic forces. In their texts, particularly A Thousand Plateaus (1980), this concept evolves to describe a cosmic rhythm that breaks free from rigid structures. The document also examines Guattari's unique contributions, often overshadowed by Deleuze, particularly his concept of "heterogenesis" (the process of constant creation and change), especially in relation to music. Two key texts by Guattari are highlighted: L’hétérogenèse dans la création musicale (1991) and Entretien sur la musique(1985), which further explore these ideas, particularly the intersections of music, philosophy, and creativity. In summary, the text provides a comprehensive exploration of Guattari's philosophical and political insights, particularly his views on music as a creative force intertwined with life, chaos, and the cosmos. These reflections broaden contemporary research across disciplines such as mathematics, physics, and art.
