Abstract
The contribution presents the Prayer of Azariah, which is part of the Greek additions to the book of Daniel. The comment focuses on the text of the LXX, whose structure and themes are exposed. The Prayer opens up an interesting perspective on how, in a situation of crisis, some Jewish groups have reformulated the concept of sacrifice: since the sacrificial cult is not possible, the three young people manifest in prayer their willingness to offer their lives instead of sacrifices. Even if they do not die, it is the sacrifice of martyrdom, as effective as that of Isaac.
