Abstract

The analysis has been carried out on the basis of the data given by I.P.C. with reference to the numbers of participation of the athletes, who took part in the Italian track and field events, which took place in: Sciacca in 2004, S.Donato Milanese in 2005, Rovigo in 2006 and Scandiano in 2007. The practiced disciplines have been for the 1st level (base): mt 60 Sprint, mt 400 Walk/March, Vortex throw, Long jump from standing start, Jump in elevation, Relay race 4X mt 50; 2nd level official competitions (pre-competitiveness) : mt 100 Sprint, mt 200 Sprint, mt 400 Sprint, mt 800 Sprint, mt 800 March, Relay race 4x mt100, Relay race 4x400, Putting Shot, Long Jump, High Jump, Pentathlon ( mt 100 Sprint, Long Jump with run up, Putting Shot, High Jump, mt 400 Sprint ).We considered the data concerning the number of the athletes and the associations subdivided into regions and the gender and level of the athletes. Difference among the participants according to their gender and level were analysed with Pearson’s Chi-square test and statistical significance was confirmed by the O.R. (odds ratio) values.
