Abstract
Personhood is certainly different from individuality, but this does not signify that a person is an individual whose relation to otherness is an internal or essential one (which would entail organicism and collectivism), rather this signifies that a person is an individual whose mind is intrinsically open to universal and intersubjective values such as truth and goodness. If liberalism and individualism are understood in this way they are identical with that kind of socialism which does not derive from collectivism.
