Abstract
This book project stems from the idea that Feyerabend’s works are arguably better understood as reactions to the intellectual figures he met, or studied. Accordingly, this collection of essays interprets and critically evaluates the philosophy of Paul Feyerabend by considering it from a new perspective, namely, through the intellectual dialogue – whereas actual, or at a distance – with philosophers and scientists within whose intellectual horizon he developed his own views, or against whose intellectual horizon he asserted himself. The book considers the ways in which Feyerabend’s thought can contribute to contemporary debates in science and public policy, including questions about the nature of scientific methodology, the role of science in society, the public understanding of science, scientism, and the role of expertise in public policy.
