Abstract

In his books on the problem of the Surnaturel Henri de Lubac shows how the theologians between XV and XVI century start to create a theological system with a “duplex ordo”: a theological system where there is an almost self-sufficent “natural” condition, with natural happiness as its goal, and then – beyond it – a supernatural status. For his demonstration, de Lubac focusses on the theology of the previous centuries, mainly on the writings of Thomas Aquinas. Rainini’s contribution tries to sketch this matter in the authors before Thomas, particularly those who live between IX and XII centuries. In this period there is a speculation about the connection between creation, incanation, fall and redemption, which is quite different from that of the following centuries. It has important connections with relation between grace and nature. These authors think of the plan of God always putting at the centre the incarnated Word – if not the «Lamb who was slain from the creation of the world» (Apoc 13,8).
