Abstract
The Author defines the institution of “duties of protection” and explains its origins in German legal culture and its development among Italian legal scholars. Moreover, certain details about the rules involved are analysed. The final paragraph is dedicated to the applications and extensions of this juridical category, suggesting its possible relevance to the field of the rights of individuals and family law.
