Abstract
Since the 4th century and then above all with the arrival of Goths and Lombards, the linguistic panorama of northern Italy is enriched with talks of Germanic stock of which still today remain traces in toponymy and linguistic loans transmitted to Italian. Among the sources that give us the possibility to reconstruct those lost languages, the anthroponymy preserved also by the epigraphic documentation offers precious evidences. The particular modalities of composition of the "talking names" that identify individuals, the meanings to which they refer, their use to mean parental relationships, also offer an interesting insight into the social habits of those peoples.
