Nuevos constructos en el uso y en la interpretación del Family System Test

This article presents the Family System Test (FAST), a graphic-constructive instrument to investigate the family system. Specifically, this instrument allows to describe the family in metaphorical terms, that is starting by placing some figurines on the checkerboard. FAST is described in its properties and in its typical use. Then, an integration of the original coding system - based on the relational-symbolic approach - is presented regarding both the development of the grid analyzing the product, as well as the creation of a grid analyzing the process based on the Interaction Process Analysis (IPA) by Bales. This proposed coding system turns out to be particularly useful with families experiencing specific situations, such as the transition to parenthood, showing a higher discriminating capacity than traditional indicators.
