Abstract
Following some preliminary remarks on the circulation of early printed books in Milan at the beginning of the nineteenth century, the contribution focuses on the types of book collectors of the time seen through the eyes of the well-known local bookseller Carlo Branca and on the bibliographical rarities from the fifteenth century which were found in some celebrated private Milanese collections recorded in the work of the priest and scholar Giacinto Amati.
