Studied the reliability of a subjective procedure for estimating prototypicality and subjective and objective procedures for estimating word use frequency. Human subjects: 100 normal male and female Italian adults (aged 20–60 yrs). Ss were asked to write down spontaneously 20 words for each of 6 semantic categories. Word use frequency in the different semantic groups was assessed objectively and subjectively
