Abstract

We approximate, in the sense of\r\nGamma-convergence, free-discontinuity functionals with linear\r\ngrowth in the gradient by a sequence of non-local integral\r\nfunctionals depending on the average of the gradients on small\r\nballs. The result extends to higher dimension what we already proved in\r\nthe one-dimensional case.
