Abstract
The paper means to prove the significance of the connection between anthropology and aesthetics brought to light thanks to the recent studies concerning Alexander Gottlieb Baumgarten's aesthetics, its sources and historical background. The focus is the definition of aesthetics as «ars analogi rationis», which implies the identification of the poetical abilities to freely assemble phantoms of imagination with the indistinct syllogism produced by the human soul. The paper aims to show how «analogon rationis» becomes the faculty that governs the judgment on the works of art, considered according to its modern meaning
