The fest of all humanity has its genesis in the merciful table of the family, because it's always the small that gives birth to the great. Similarly it is from the faith and Cristian community that was born the very culture that freed substance and time in relationship to food. The dialectic and troubled relationship between man and food is investigated under a philosophical and theological lens, open to interdisciplinary contributions. Such a relationship is a building block of the European anthropologic universal. There are two key challenges. 1) the generation of the anthropologic through the theologic. The consumption of food (examples are Jewish and Christian Easter and Islamic rituals) is not destructive but it is a mutual offering from God to the man and from the man to man. Justice and mercy of the gift create the Community and give a meaning to the lifetime. This transforms the chronological order into liturgy and ties the daily life to the eschatological fulfillment of the feast. 2) the critique of reason to religion. This part looks at the differences between Christian and secular (nihilist) demystification of pure and impure, taboos and time. Lastly, it looks at the consumption of food as mere destruction that is therefore unable to harmonize the love of self, the love of God and the love for others.
