Abstract
The mother-father relationship represents the fundamental context for child development. It is characterized by specific and unique features, the most influential of which are asymmetry and hierarchy. The form and shape of relationship are specific for each child, and change throughout the lifecycle. As co-parenting has a significant effect on the well-being of the child as well as of the entire family system, both parents are expected to contribute actively in their child’s development.
