Abstract
In the child protection decision making process it is really important to hear children and to promote their participation in order to define effective paths of aid. However child protection social workers are not in a good position to hear children. Advocacy is a professional practice useful to promote children’s participation in decisions affecting their lives. In the Italian child protection system the advocate is named portavoce (someone who brings voice). The paper presents an issued based advocacy process discussing the methodological phases of the process and the principles inspiring the advocate’s work in representing children’s voices.
